Bloodborne Pathogens

1. All workers with a chance of exposure to blood or body fluids should recieve the hepatitus B vaccine unless they shouldn't take it for medical or pregnancy reasons.
2. If hands are not visibly soiled, use an alcohol-based hand rub for routinely decontaminating hands in all other clinical situation described in items OR wash hands with an antimicrobial soap.
3. There is a vaccine against HIV.
4. It is not necessary to change gloves during patient care if moving from a contaminated body site to a clean body site.
5. There is no vaccine against hepatitus C and no treatment after an exposure that will prevent infection.
